Engine Tuning

1.8T ECU Upgrade

APR's EMCS software is available for the 150BHP A3 including the later VVT engine (variable Valve Timing). The software for the Audi A3 is available in a 1.0 bar configuration and produces 196 horsepower and 240 ft. lbs of torque respectively. On the later VVT motor, which also as a different turbocharger specification, the horsepower gains are increased to around 207 BHP but with same torque.

1.8T S3 ECU Upgrade

APR's EMCS software is available for the 210 horsepower (157Kw) & the 225 horsepower (165kw) S3. The software for the S3, is available in a 1.4 bar configuration (available for the newer VVT engine as well as the early version) and produces 262 horsepower (195Kw) and 270 ft. lbs (362Nm) respectively.

Stage 2 maps require additional mods such as CAI and Turboback exhaust.

Our software is designed to operate within the turbochargers' efficiency range whilst producing huge increase in low end torque, improved throttle response and a much smoother, more powerful top end. Unlike other "chip tuning companies", we do not max out the boost pressure sensor in order to boost spike and give high initial torque readings. Although this maybe good for marketing purposes, it not only creates surge during acceleration at low RPM, but also reduces the life expectancy of the turbocharger considerably.

All APR chip upgrades use encryption, which serve several purposes. First, it keeps prying eyes out of our software and prevents lesser companies from copying the chip and degrading the product. Secondly, the encryption prevents the dealer from flash programming the ECU. Also, all APR software is undetectable to a dealers VAG diagnostic tool.

Diverter Valves (1.8T)

Filters and Induction Kits

We carry the BMC, JR Response, Carbonio & Powertec ranges. Jetex & BMC are virtually household names in filtration.

BMCs pedigree is second to none - used in F1 no less!!

The CDA filtering system is composed of a cylindrical carbon air box containing a washable filtering element. Substituting the original air box with our CDA, cold air is directly channeled through an internal airflow deflector to the filter and drawn into the engine with a very small pressure drop (patented system). The CDA system also includes a black alloy ducting (60 cm length) for connecting the system to an air intake on the front of the car. The system is available in two different dimensions: we advise Type 1 for engines up to 1,600 cc; Type 2 for bigger displacements. Every type is also available in different diameters on engine side for connections. Dyno and Datron Laser tests demonstrate the great performance of CDA filtering system.

Manufactured from aerospace grade carbon fibre, Carbonio further improves this material by incorporating a proprietary thermal barrier layer in its construction. The result is an exceptionally light and strong part that minimizes intake temperatures. This ensures that the engine optimizes power by receiving the coldest and most oxygen rich air possible.

Carbonio’s line of intakes represent the pinnacle of induction design. Extensive testing has resulted in an intake that maximizes performance in all driving conditions. Power will come on sooner and the engine will pull for longer and stronger.

Powertec are new to the AUDI scene - but their filters are very good indeed. A British company manufacturing the filers from stainless steel - even the gauze!!

Typical gains in power can be felt when fitting the right filter choice for your car. (Cold Air Intakes)  CAIs are a great benefit to the Audi 1.8T range.

Intercoolers and more!

Tuningwerkes can supply side & front mount intercoolers and upgraded side mount intercoolers for this car. When running big BHP, a bigger - more efficient intercooler is a must!

Exhaust Systems

Tuningwerkes can offer Jetex, Supersprint and Milltek systems for this car.

Jetex has come a long way with its production now and offers a reasonably priced alternative to Supersprint.

Supersprint - on the other hand have been offering good looking (and extremely well built) systems for years (we first used their 1.8T system on our Audi A3 in 2000 (featured in PVW)!!

Suspension

Tuningwerkes has a great relationship with the world leaders in suspension development and design.
We supply leading names such as H&R, KW Suspensions and Eibach.

There are a lot of companies out there. There are - however, only a few good ones with proven R&D, TUV approval etc.

There are cheap suspension kits on the market - and you will see more expensive ones too. The difference is not merely in the name. There is a lot of work that goes into suspension design. A lot of factors have to be taken into consideration before a manufacturer can release a kit. Take a look at the big names. Eibach - supply race cars the world over. H&R - Original Equipment suppliers to VW for their Golf R32s and to Mercedes race teams. KW Suspensions - suppliers to VW Racing! Do any of the cheaper brands have such pedigree? Do they have their own R&D?

TAR OX

A budget priced 6 pot caliper brake upgrade kit that is suitable for various VAG models including the Mk3 Golf VR6, Mk4 Golf, Bora, Beetle, Audi TT, Leon and Octavia.

Tarox have managed to contain the cost by using an existing cast disc instead of the more usual two piece discs with alloy hub . The kit may be a little heavier than a similarly sized TAROX kit with two piece disc but the extra weight will be of little consequence to road users and the favourable price will more than compensate. The kit carries full German TUV approval - a further testament to the quality of this product.

The kit includes: Two F2000 312mm discs, Two B32 six piston lightweight alloy calipers, One set of pads, Two braided hoses, Two fitting brackets

TAROX Strada Front Brake Pads

These pads are ideal for fast road use and every day driving. They work from cold and provide immediate response without pre-heating like an O.E pad but at the same time offer a higher coefficient of friction for improved braking power, improved resistance to high temperatures and a longer service life than O.E materials. Provides excellent pedal feel and allows full control over braking for the driver.

Able to withstand temperatures of up to 600°C this pad has an optimum temperature range of 150°C to 200°C, for best results do not exceed disc temperature of app. 400°C.
